Pops & Rayes’ journey began after the birth of the founders daughter Raye and niece Poppy in 2019. Her and her sister had fallen pregnant only 10 weeks apart so were constantly helping each other with handy purchases they had made, basically anything they found which made their lives easier.
One challenge they constantly came across was being organised but still stylish. A typical ‘Mum Bag’ was not going to cut it for them. Having chosen to use a nice large tote bag to carry all her essentials. The compromise being she could never organise her bag and find things easily.
Et Voila, the ‘Merde’ bag was born. I think it’s fair to say we all carry a lot of ‘Merde’ (French for crap) with us and she wanted on bag which would organise this all in a neat stylish way. Something which was durable and practical. A nice way to organise belongings in a larger bag or to be carried as a clutch. Having found the French word Merde humorous and less offensive so continued the French theme in the internal pouches.
